Below we will mention the steps to do the DLink router setup:

Step 1: As we are doing the DLink router setup, to do the same please power off the modem before connecting it to DLInk router. In case you cannot power off the modem, then you can pull off the cable from the back of the modem to power it off

 

Step 2: During the process of DLink router setup, you will connect the Ethernet cable from modem to the router and connect the other end of the ethernet cable from Dlink router setupDlink router to the computer. After the DLink router setup, you can connect the computer with the wireless network if it has wireless network adaptor. There is a possibility that your DLink router may have come with an ethernet cable. If your computer was connected directly tot he modem before, you may have the choice to use the ethernet cable.

 

Step 3: In this step of DLink router setup, you will connect the modem to the WAN port on the router. You will find an ethernet port near to power connection on the back of the DLink router. This Ethernet port has a different color than of other four of LAN ports. Do not plug the power supply to DLink router for a while.

Step 6: Now give the power supply to the DLink router. Plug the power plug supply on the back and plug it into the power outlet. The DLink router also takes the 30 to 60 seconds for boot up same as of modem.

 

Step 7: If you had not powered on your computer till now, then go ahead and port on the computer. Please check and verify that you are not connected to any other network or wireless network.

 

Step 8: Now in the last step of DLink router setup, check the lights or light indicators on the Link router. Make sure you see the Power light, the WAN light, and the LAN light for the LAN port your computer is connected to.

 

Please check that WAN light, if don’t see the WAN light; make sure the modem is powered on and connected to the WAN port on the router. Also, check the LAN light. If you don’t see the LAN light, make sure that your computer is connected via Ethernet to one of the LAN ports on the router, and that it is turned on.

 

Accessing the DLink router

 

Step 1: In order to check the DLink wireless router setup, open any web browser of your choice. You can configure your router using any web browser on the computer that’s connected to the router.

 

Step 2: Now type the default IP 192.168.0.1 into the address bar. When you had entered this default IP address in web browser address bar, you will be asked to loin into the DLink router; a web page will be opened asking you to enter the L=loin credentials into the respected fields. If you are not able to load the router’s configuration page, check that your computer is just connected to the router and not to another network as well.

 

If still, you are unable to load the login page into your browser, please make sure that your computer is not connected to any other network or any other router as well. If still, the problem persists, there are chances that the router was likely used by someone else and the default address was changed. To fix this problem, press and hold the Reset button on the back of the DLink router for about ten seconds. This will reset the router to its default settings. Once the router resets, you should be able to access the configuration page at 192.168.0.1.

 

Step 3: In the process of DLink router setup, enter the default username ‘Admin’ and default password which is to leave the password field blank. This is the default login information for your router. If this provided login information does not work, it could mean that the default login information was changed previously by any other user of the DLink router. To fix this, you will press and hold the Reset button on the back for about ten seconds. After resetting, you should be able to login with the default login information.

 

Step 4: Now perform the first time setup for the DLink router. Select the setup wizard button to do the DLink router setup. If your choice is to just get your router up and running the “Setup Wizard” button that appears when you log in for the first time. Selection of this choice will get your network configured and secured in just a few minutes. If you don’t see the button, click the “Setup” tab.

Step 5: Now select the Launch Internet Connection Setup Wizard button. It wil automatically start the setup process for your Dlink router’s internet connection and administrator account. Click “Next” to continue when prompted.

 

Step 6: After you had followed the above-mentioned step, now set the administrator password. As you already know that the default password is leaving the password field blank. Now if you want to keep your DLink router safe from unauthorized access, set the administrator password for it. Create a new administrator password when prompted, and make sure you write it down or commit it to memory. You’ll have to reset your router if you forget your password.

 

Step 7: If you want to keep the record of logs of your DLink router, then set the time zones. You will need to refer your current time zone for accurate logs and time-based router settings. Select the correct time zone from the drop-down menu. After doing this also click on current internet connection type. Most users who connect via cable or DSL will select the first option DHCP Connection. Contact your internet service provider if you are unsure.

 

Step 8: If your operating system is MAc, then click on the option of Clone Your PC MAC Address (which usually is empty). Most of the cases, it is found that this field is already filled. Only click this if the MAC Address field is empty. Most users can ignore the hostname field unless specified by their ISP

 

Now save the settings and click on the connect button in order to save the save the above-done settings. your router will reboot, which may take one to two minutes.

 

Step 9: In the final step of DLink router setup, now test the connection which we had set up. Open the web browser of your choice and check if you can load the web pages. You need to try a few times before the first web page load, which is quite normal. After you had checked the web pages are loading without any error, you will move to create your wireless network.

 

Wireless network setup DLink

 

i) Enter the 192.168.0.1 into the browser window of a computer and enter the password previously created, here the username still be an admin.

ii) To open the setup wizard, select the setup tab. To do the Wireless network setup DLink, select the wireless settings option in the menu from left frame. Select the enable wireless option, which will turn on the wireless network when you will save the settings.

iii) Now name the network, but please keep in mind that it should not contain any personal information because the network name will be publicly available to view. Now select the “WPA2” as the “Security Mode”. This is the most secure method of wireless transmission and requires no extra effort on your part over the outdated WEP. A strong WPA2 password is virtually impossible to crack, while a WEP password can be cracked in less than thirty minutes. Only select WPA or WEP if you have older devices that only support these protocols.

iv) After it to make it secure, create a secure and memorable password. After setting up the password, click on save settings button. This will enable the wireless network which will take approx. 30 seconds. Once the router has saved the changes, you can connect your devices to the network wirelessly.

v) Now after Wireless network setup DLink, you can connect your desired device with wireless network after entering the created password by you.
