Belkin Router Setup

You can set up the Belkin router by using these four methods, mentioned as below:

  •  Belkin router setup in general

i)Open the New browser window, where the user needs to visit the Belkin router’s IP address which is,http://192.168.2.1. You can say this IP address http://192.168.2.1 is the default Belkin router IP address.

ii)Now here in the process of Belkin router setup, in the opened window of Belkin router, in the right edge of the bar, click under>internet WAN and choose the second option under Internet WAN, the ‘DNS’.

iii) There while you are doing the Belkin router setup, The login window will appear. Before you want to customize any settings under login credentials, you need to log in with the password. In case you have not set any password previously, you need to leave the password option blank as the default password is leaving the password cell blank and tap on submit option.

iv) in the semifinal step of Belkin router setup, Uncheck Automatic from ISP and type in OpenDNS addresses in DNS Address and Secondary DNS Address. Please write down your current DNS settings before switching to OpenDNS, in case you want to return to your old settings for any reason.
The address for open DNS is: 208.67.222.222(for first) and 208.67.220.220(secondary DNS address)

v)Now in the final step of Belkin router setup, Click Apply Changes

Manually setup of Belkin router

You can set up the Belkin router even without the use of the Setup CD. You can set it up manually through the web-based setup page of the router. Perform the steps below to learn how:

i)Power cycling the modem and router

ii)Manually setting up your router

i)Power cycling the modem and router
-In order to power cycling the modem and Belkin router, power off the modem and router by unplugging them both from the power source.
– Now to move further to set up the Belkin router, connect the Ethernet cable from the modem to the WAN or Internet port of the router. Now its time to Power ON your modem first, then your router by plugging them back to the power source.

ii) Manually setting up of the router
– Now to set up the Belkin router manually connect the computer to one of the Ethernet ports of the router. Now launch the web browser and enter the Belkin router’s IP address bar which is 192.168.2.1, it is the default IP address of Belkin router and press enter.

iii) Now the Belkin router setup window will pop up, here click on ‘login’. The clicking on login, leave the password field blank as it is the default password. here on the login page, you will see the dialogue: ”before you can change any settings, you need to log in with the password. If you have not yet set a custom password, then leave the field blank and click submit.”

iv) proceeding further with the manual setup of Belkin router select the connection type under internet WAN, here select your connection type(dynamic/static/PPPoE/PPTP/Telstra BigPond/OPTUS net cable) and select next. If you don’t know your Connection Type, contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP).

v) Going further with setup process of Belkin router, enter the details provided by your Internet service provider and click the apply changes button. You should now be able to connect to the Internet. In order to verify the connectivity, the internet status bar at the upper right corner should read connected. You can also launch a web browser and go to your favorite website. Once you have set up the Internet connection on your Belkin router, you can now proceed with configuring specific settings in your router.

3. Setting up a Belkin router or modem router through the Dashboard

Here are below mentioned ways to set up the Belkin router via the dashboard
Before proceeding further make sure are available with wired computer,IP address of modem router, router username and password

i) First to set up the Belkin router via dashboard is to launch a web browser, any one of Internet Explorer or Safari and enter the IP address of your Belkin router in the Address bar and then, press Enter. The default IP address of Belkin routers is 192.168.2.1. If you have changed the default value, enter your personalized IP address instead.
If you are not sure about the IP address, please refer below-mentioned instructions to check:
Make sure you have connected the computer to the Belkin router, check the lights on your computer and router. Observe if the LEDs are lit once the Ethernet cable is connected. Also, verify if the TCP/IP properties of Ethernet adapter installed on the computer. To find the Belkin router’s local IP Address, check the IP settings of the computer. Select your computer’s operating system (OS) below for specific instructions.

Windows 10: Find the taskbar, click the search icon and type CMD>click on command prompt. when the command prompt window opens, enter “ipconfig/all” then press the [Enter] key. Look for your Belkin router’s local IP address by checking the Default Gateway section. If your router is not responding to your computer, power cycle your router, then repeat Step 3. If it is still not responding, perform a reset.

Windows 8: You can click on charms bar and search the command prompt in the search bar. When command prompt windows open, enter the “ipconfig/all” then press the [Enter] key. Look for your Belkin router’s local IP address by checking the Default Gateway section. If your router is not responding to your computer, power cycle your router, then repeat Step 3. If it is still not responding, perform a reset.
Windows 7/Windows Vista: Select on the pearl button and enter the cmd in the search field, you also have the choice to enter command prompt in the search field. When the search results show, click on cmd icon.enter the “ipconfig/all” then press the [Enter] key. Look for your Belkin router’s local IP address by checking the Default Gateway section. If your router is not responding to your computer, power cycle your router, then repeat Step 3. If it is still not responding, perform a reset.

Windows XP: Click on Start icon and select run, enter cmd and click OK. In the command window enter the “ipconfig/all” then press the [Enter] key. Look for your Belkin router’s local IP address by checking the Default Gateway section. If your router is not responding to your computer, power cycle your router, then repeat Step 3. If it is still not responding, perform a reset.

OS X: Click on Apple icon and go on system preferences, under that click on Network. On the network, the screen goes on location and click on automatic, then click Ethernet and look for your router’s local IP Address by checking the Router section.
You should now have successfully checked the IP Address of your Belkin router.

ii)Now after checking the IP address, we shall continue with the setup of Belkin router via the dashboard and when the Belkin router’s welcome page opens, select the dashboard option there. By default, there is no password configured on Belkin routers. You may leave the password field blank and click Submit. But, if your Dashboard is locked and you don’t know the password, you can reset your router to its factory default settings.

iii) After it with the continuation of Belkin router setup click on Advanced settings. Here on WAN settings, click on ISP connection type. Under ISP Connection Type, select any of the following Internet connection service you’re getting from your ISP: dynamic/static/PPPoE/PPTP/Telstra BigPond/OPTUS net cable. Click save.

iv)Now use the ADSL cable to connect your modem router to the wall outlet with ADSL service. You can now restart modem router. Browse to check if you can connect to the Internet using wired and wireless connection. Your Belkin router is now configured successfully.

4.Setup of Belkin router with Disk

i) In order to set up the Belkin router with the help of disk which comes with Belkin router. First, make sure that your internet modem and Belkin router are disconnected from their power sources.

ii) Now connect the modem to your Belkin router via Ethernet cable which needs to be plugged into an open Ethernet port on your modem where the port on your Belkin router should be labeled WAN o Internet.

iii) Now after following the above-mentioned step, please reconnect the internet modem to its power source. Also, plug in the Belkin router to its power supply.
iv) Now moving to the main process of setting up the Belkin router, insert the Belkin setup disk that came with your router into the optical disc drive on your computer. To identify you can check the disc is labeled “Belkin Easy Install Wizard Software.” The wizard will display on-screen within 15 seconds of inserting the disk into your disc drive.

v) Moving further in the setup of Belkin router via disk, select the “Run the Easy Install Wizard,” then follow the on-screen instructions to set up your Internet connection. The disk will give you an option to create username and password for your network so all devices in your home can connect to the Internet.

vi) In the final step of setting up the Belkin router via disk is to, Click on “Finish” on the last page of the setup wizard to exit and close the wizard. The wizard will inform you that your Belkin router is now connected to the Internet.
